Client: University of Texas Industry: Education Website Type: Resource Website with Message Board Video: No Social Media: No Website Goal: Providng a message board and informational site for the University with a focus on their microbiology lab MAC Lung disease research at the Tyler, TX campus. Website: www.maclungdisease.org |
Success Strategy:
Overview:
The University of Texas was looking to develop a comprehensive resource for one of their foremost research laboratories, the microbiology lab at the Tyler, TX campus. The website needed to not only explain the research study, but actively involve individuals who were part of the study. Furthermore, the website needed to educate women on the symptoms of the MAC disease and provide a community outreach program for individuals seeking further information.
Target Market:
The marketing approach was entirely viral. The concept behind the site was to educate and provide extremely valuable information, as such fostering individuals sharing the information and driving more traffic back to the site.
Plan of Attack:
TOLS visited the Tyler campus and met with the staff first-hand. We interviewed several of the doctors and laboratory assistants. We also interviewed several of their patients and asked what they looked for in a website. The core request was to build a site that individuals could share information on. Thus we created a help forum in which patients could share their experiences.
The design of the site is based around ease of navigation. Client registration and user management has been streamlined to accommodate all users. The website further provides extensive definitions and a FAQ resource area to individuals who are not registered users of the message board.
To date the website enjoys massive success. The message board accommodates over 1100 users and is growing rapidly. We are assisting women in identifying the symptoms of a fairly unknown disease and helping them on the way to recovery.
