Home  //  Services  //  Crossfit Marketing

Yup, I Crossfit and I love it so much, that I just had to add it to our repertoire of services.  Welcome to our Crossfit web marketing page.  Our company has built over 2400 websites since its inception and recently built our first Crossfit Website.  Take a look and let us know what you think Orlando Crossfit.

wodd bookI love what I do.  I truly love it.  Even better, as a fellow crossfitter of roughly 18 months, I have grown to relish this awesome and life-changing  lifestyle.  I have made many new friends, learned to hate burpees, watched peoples lives be transformed in a matter of months and embraced many of the paleo principles.  I am also a techie and I love a good challenge, especially when it comes to web marketing.  I'm in a unique position in that I want to help other crossfit boxes do well, and have the toolset to get it done.  We started working with Crossfit Country in April of 2011 and since then the client base of the facility has exploded.  We are about to move into a 13,000SF facility making us the largest box in the south eastern United States.  With the onset of the kids program, we are planning on doubling our results within the next 12 months.

Having said that, I wanted to put a specific web marketing page together specifically designed for Crossfit boxes. I'm breaking this page down into 2 components.

  • The website itself
  • The marketing of the website

Feel free to use as much of the information as you'd like.  If you have any questions, or would lke for us to help you, don't hesitate and call me directly at extension 1004 or simply contact me through the contact form. - Stephan

Design of the Crossfit Website:

Your website needs to accomplish several key goals:

  • Be a sales tool for potential members to want to contact you.
  • Become a resource for existing members to get valuable information about their lifestyle.
  • Engage potential and existing members socially through the use of various social media tools that are connected to the site.

I'm a big believer in clean, engaging designs.  Your website does not have to be expensive, but it shouldn't be cheap either.  Your site is the first thing a potential member will judge you on, and with so many boxes popping out of the ground in every city now-a-days, you need to assure that your website is on par with the rest.

Crossfit Website Pages:

A good crossfit site should provide enough information to showcase the facility and provide enough content for the search engines to really index you well.  We have found that generally 8-10 pages (excluding the blog) will do the trick.  We also believe your home page should either have a blog component on it, or at least feed an RSS feed of your blog to the home page.  We are also big believers in videos.  Pump the site full of them.  Some additional pages to consider are:

  • Why Us? / About Us
  • Location page with google maps on it
  • Pricing page
  • Class Scheduler (we use Mindbody, though I find it a little primitive)
  • Contact page with a simple contact form.  Name & Email.  That's it.  Keep it simple. Ask for the phone number, but don't make it mandatory. If people want to talk to you, they'll call.  Have text below the form that says you'll never sell their info.  Make sure a confirmation page pops up after the form submission explaining what will happen next.
  • What is Crossfit? Talk about the culture, Reebok's involvement, the games, etc
  • Crossfit FAQ: Important for the "not so fit".
  • Crossfit Programs: Crossfit kids, Athlete, etc
  • Education Section: Nutrition, WODs, Grocery Lists, Acronyms, Valuable links
  • Blog: Use your blog as your main on-page engagement tool.  Split it up into categories for easy searching.  Make sure your crossfit blog is on the website and not an off-site component.
  • Testimonials with before and after pictures
  • Photo Gallery
  • Social Media Section

These are just some ideas.  Use your own creativity to make the site fun and engaging.  If you have any additional page suggestions to add here, let me know.

Crossfit Web Page Concepts to Consider:

  • Use your content to educate and explain what Crossfit is.  Do this on the home page.
  • Show sample results for credibility purposes.
  • Prominently display testimonials.  Use people of all age ranges and fitness levels.
  • If you received press coverage, showcase it.  It builds credibility.  If you haven't, send out a press release to all of your local news agencies. VERY IMPORTANT!!!
  • Illustrate important points with graphics, not highlighted content.
  • If you are going to be working with a Daily Deal site, make sure you explain the deal on the website.
  • Write your content in a benefit-driven way.  Don't just talk about the features of your facility. Talk about the benefit to the end user.  Example: "We offer classes starting at 6am (feature), to assure you will be able to get a good workout on a time schedule that works for you (benefit).
  • Have multiple calls to action on every page.
  • Keep your writing on-point with logical progressions.
  • Use bullet lists and keep most important points at top and bottom of bullets.
  • Keep each paragraph under 5 lines.
  • Test your website in every browser. Especially IE.  IE sucks, so if something breaks, chances are it will be broken in there.
  • Consider using a QR code on your website for viewers to download your contact info directly into their smart phone.
